Position Specifications

Nutrition Assistant Per Diem- Nutrition Services - Patient

This is a Per Diem position with variable hours and variable shifts. There is no guarantee of hours worked. This position is NOT eligible for benefits.

Salary Scale: Scale begins at $13.53. Placement within the scale is dependent upon years of work experience. The salary scale is reviewed on an annual basis for market comparison and may change with the market.

Responsibilities

Assemble and deliver patient, visitor and staff meal orders in a high-volume, fast-paced environment to patients rooms or designated locations. Responsible for orienting patients to the A la Carte dining program, visiting patients who did not place a meal order, and assisting them as appropriate or placing a pre-order for them. Maintain cash bank and process cash sale orders. Responsible for retrieving soiled meal trays from patient rooms. Perform related tasks as required.

Qualifications

High school education or general educational degree (GED).

Current State of Washington Food and Beverage Service Workers Permit.

One year related customer service experience required. One year food service experience preferred.

Must demonstrate the competency to safely and/or accurately operate a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to the following: food delivery carts, base heater, coffee brewing equipment, alphamate pager key board and pager, fountain beverage dispensers, CO2 tanks, and refrigeration units.

Ability to provide quality customer service in a serious, sensitive environment. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one situations to patients, customers, and other employees of the organization. Ability to work with a wide range of staff as part of a team. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language at an 8th grade level. Perform basic mathematical computations using units of US currency, weight measurement, and volume. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, plating guidelines, meal order tickets, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to manage several tasks and set priorities in a high volume environment.
