Direct wind power development for a large regional portfolio. This position will set development strategy and priorities, supervise project management staff, lead commercial transactions for power sales, monitor transmission planning and government policy developments, build relationships with region utilities and industry groups, evaluate market conditions and recommend new development opportunities.

Power Marketing and Commercial Sales -

* Pursue power purchase arrangements
* Build and maintain relationships with utility customers
* Direct proposal team in bid preparation
* Lead negotiations with regional customers for PPA and asset sales
* Design development strategies for utility customers
* Support Business Development group to secure asset sales and project financing
* Support joint development or acquisition opportunities
* Promote Clipper turbine sales with all prospective customers

Portfolio Development -

* Supervise and mentor assigned Development Project Managers (DPM) and Development Associates
* Ensure all region projects are developed in accordance to company guidelines and budgets
* Provide oversight of economic assumptions for region projects
* Recommend assets for abandonment when investment risk cannot be supported
* Assist in the identification of new prospect sites
* Assist DPM with initial assessment of all new projects to define material constraints and action plan
* Identify available transmission capacity and preferred interconnection points

Regional Representation -

* Build political and regulatory support for projects and development interests
* Represent Clipper in industry and regulatory proceedings
* Attend conferences and seminars relevant to portfolio and commercial interests
* Work with landowners, customers, community leaders, partners and government agencies

General and Administrative -

* Manage and mentor direct reports for high performance and personal growth
* Support department budget and planning activities
* Prepare periodic financial reports and regional management reports
* Assist with improving development process and procedures
* Maintain general knowledge of the wind power industry
* Learn fundamental elements of turbine design and operations
* Understand essential elements of commercial finance, project economics and contracts used in renewable energy projects
