Company: Northern Michigan Regional Hospital Facility: Northern Michigan Regional Hospital at Petoskey Department: Central Transcription The Medical Transcriptionist interprets and transcribes dictation by physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, work-up, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Pursuant to Michigan Public Acts 27, 28 and 29 of 2006, this job position requires a fingerprint background check completed through Human Resources at Northern Michigan Hospital. Education: Minimum of high school graduate with secretarial training, including word processing, personal computers (with different applications), general office equipment use and procedures. Course work in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and medical transcription training preferred. Experience: Previous medical transcription experience preferred Other Job Requirements: Ability to type a minimum of 60 to 65 words per minute. Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified, and troubleshoot as necessary. Must be able to use the Internet proficiently. Must be able to send and receive e-mail to communicate with fellow Associates and employer. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Ability to comprehend and understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Must be able to work under pressure with time constraints. Ability to concentrate with excellent listening skills, eye, hand and auditory coordination. Reports to work on time, as scheduled, and is reliable with low absenteeism, low tardiness. Works all shifts, with varying hours and weekend and holiday rotations. This is subject to change as the needs of the department change. Full-time Afternoons
