California Prison Health Care Services was created to restore a constitutional level of health care for the 170,000 inmates in California's correctional facilities. Providing quality care for people who previously had no voice in their own care is a noble cause and epic in scope. It requires individuals with an exceptional dedication to their profession and their patients. Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief of Rehabilitation, the Occupational Therapist I plans, evaluates, and implements appropriate occupational therapy treatment for inmates based on best practice standards. Essential job functions include: Observing any physical changes in the patients and reporting to physicians and others concerned; providing clear objective documentation; participating in quality improvement projects with the interdisciplinary team and the rehabilitation services division; maintaining the treatment room and equipment in sanitary condition; and ordering necessary equipment and supplies.
*Starting Salary: $4,534/monthly

*Salaries will be adjusted accordingly to comply with the provisions of the current furlough programs. Requirements:
Registration with the National Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association or eligibility for such registration. (Applicants who have completed the academic training required for registration will be admitted to the civil service examination, but they must also have completed the required clinical training before they will be considered eligible for appointment).
