Carrier Building Systems & Services has an opening for a Manager of Instructional Design and Learning in our Carrier University training organization based in Syracuse, New York. This position is primarily responsible for the North American classroom training organization which supports over 200 Carrier and Bryant distribution and field offices in its residential and commercial businesses. The position is also responsible for supporting custom technical training opportunities such as those for power companies, trade unions and other large end-users. The successful candidate will manage the design, development and delivery of HVAC related training programs to internal and external customers.

Activities primarily include:
- Overseeing the design and delivery of training course development.
- Planning and implementing an annual training calendar.
- Supervising a team of 6 company-employed instructors and 5 contract instructors.
- Interacting with the company's service, engineering, marketing, and sales groups.
- Managing department income and expense budgets.
- Driving the development of new programs for classroom and online delivery.
- Coordinating national service training activities and communicating results.


Minimum: BA/BS degree with 10 years experience.
Ideal: MA/MS degree with 6 years experience.

- Knowledge of HVAC industry and products in commercial and residential applications.
- Design of instructional courses and support materials.
- Leading a team of instructors.
- Budget and profit responsibility.
- Determining customer training needs and proposing solutions.
- Managing several projects simultaneously on time and within budget.
- Creating a strong network of support inside and outside the organization.
- Working knowledge of authoring tools for the design of web-based content.
- Knowledge of Carrier's distribution network, contractors, and dealers is a plus.
- Prior duties managing in a teaching or training environment is also a plus.
