Responsibilities We require a graduate student from chemical or process engineering or pharmaceutical sciences with some background in pharmaceutical solids- properties and processing. A good understanding of characterization of physical, chemical and mechanical properties of powders would be a plus. This is a Co-Op position for up to six months duration in the Process Engineering and Material Science section of the Product Development group within our Pharmaceutical and Analytical Research and Development department. The key purpose of the role is to provide support to a senior scientist or engineer or team manager towards the development and understanding of material characterization methods and robust manufacturing processes, with a particular emphasis on solid dosage formulation. Major Responsibilities-Work on a project designed by the manager or senior scientist for material testing, process understanding and modelling techniques.-To develop an understanding of the impact of process variability on the quality attributes of pharmaceutical dosage forms.-Independently perform assigned complex formulation, research or technology activities using novel and/or innovative approaches and problem solving techniques.-Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the pharmaceutics sciences, increase professional stature, through publications, presentations, and patents, and initiate and maintain contacts within the industry and academia in order to become aware of new developments within the discipline.-Exercise effective communication ability, both written and verbal.Qualifications The minimum education, training and experience requirements for the role are: -A Masters degree and/or a Ph.D. candidate in pharmaceutical sciences or chemical engineering (or related disciplines).-Completed coursework with the necessary credits for a Masters or Ph.D. degree preferably with electives that would provide a sound theoretical background in the fields of statics, mathematical modelling, material properties etc.
