Kaiser Permanente is seeking a process oriented individual with a 'can do' attitude to work in our IP Services Engineering department. Individuals submitting for this position must show the ability to think both critically and creatively, independently and cooperatively, and be flexible and agile. Must possess the ability and self-confidence to adapt to rapid or major change, be curious with a desire to learn, have the ability to influence across the team and to champion change with a profound understanding of the importance of teamwork. Potential candidates must show strong technical project engineering skills, strong customer focus, and excellent analytical, problem solving, oral, telephone, written, and presentation communication skills. Prospect must have the ability to interface, partner, and influence network vendors and technology partners and must be passionate about Care Delivery and Kaiser's social mission in our communities. RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for updating applicable standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs), obtaining approvals, and posting them on the Kaiser standard documentation repository. Work with Field implementation team on defining access rights to support access. - Lab test all infrastructure upgrades and work with vendors on code train developments. Define Load Balancing local and global configurations based on application specific requirements. Development WAN optimized configurations to support application specific requirements. - Work to define support model for IP Services infrastructure platforms. Define release cycle and roadmap for IP Services infrastructure platforms. Define and document Service Level Agreements (SLAs) supporting IP Services offerings. - Collect and consolidate all IP address/subnet information (including DHCP scopes), facility allocation information and NFS location/address information. Review current users/rights and review new requested access rights from external departments. Define access right groups to match job functions. Define training plans to support internal and external department training on the use of department supported appliances. - Document/participate in centralized function design, process design, and standard definition work. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline or four additional years of equivalent work experience - 12 or more years of related IT experience in large, complex organizations - 8 or more years of high-level network development/engineering experience - Must have experience with IP Address Management infrastructure appliances, ISC BIND and DHCP, Load Balancing infrastructure appliances, Application Acceleration (WAN Optimization) appliances, Logging appliances, and NTP appliances. Excellent documentation skills are critical. Direct experience working with Bluecat, F5, LogLogic, Symmetricom, Riverbed or similar products a plus. Experience with DNS vulnerabilities, forwarding models, and dynamic DNS update behavior is a plus. - Must be proficient in deploying and upgrading infrastructure appliances. Must also be skilled at creating and documenting processes and procedures in a large technical organization. - Extensive communication skills to enable the individual to communicate complex, technical information to team members and other project teams. Technical documentation skills are necessary. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Superior documentation skills. Department wide Technical Skills, (DNS/DHCP & IP Address Management, Load Balancing & Application Acceleration) - Strong understanding of OSI Layer 1-3 (Physical, Switching and Routed Networks) - Strong Linux/Unix Operating Systems - Strong understanding of TCP/IP version 4 - Strong understanding of High Availability Models and Appliances Architectures Load Balancing Technical Skills; - Detailed knowledge of Local Traffic Management
