Performs supervisory tasks under the direction of the Laboratory Manager which contributes to the successful operation of the laboratory and its related services and functions. These services are provided for the dental program as a whole and for the direct and indirect benefit of the subscriber. Areas of supervision include fixed and removable prosthetics with inclusion of all related areas of fabrication and distribution of products and services. All such products and services shall be provided for and subject to the standards of quality recognized by the Kaiser Permanente Dental Program. Essential Functions: - Supervises the technical staff and directs the work flow within the designated areas of responsibility. - Reviews quality of fabricated products within their specified areas of responsibilities and maintains strict quality standards and controls. - Provides advice to providers and consults as to the technical specifications, quality and effective application of prosthetic appliances. - Develops technical staff through in-service education. - Represents management to the technical staff and reflects management's position on policy and related areas. Consults with management in regards to operational goals, objectives and problem solving. - Participates in all phases of personnel management. - Participates on program committees and represents the Dental Lab or program as a whole. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - A minimum of 5 years experience 2 years of which had direct supervision of other personnel. - High school diploma or GED. - A comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of dental technology within the areas to be supervised. - Excellent communicative, verbal, written and organizational skills a must. - A good understanding of budgets and staff management necessary. Preferred Qualifications: - 5 years of experience as a direct supervisor in a large scale dental laboratory. - 10 years of experience within the field of dental technology. - Associate Degree from an American Dental Association (ADA) approved college or technical school graduate OR equivalent combination of knowledge and experience. - Ability to perform and assess all functions and aspects of appliance fabrication relative to the areas of responsibility. - Excellent supervisory and communicative skills. - Ability to train and educate the staff in all aspects of the fabrication process relative to the area of responsibility.
