Cardiac Sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis. The Cardiac Sonographer must be able to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis. The Sonographer must acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care and institute life saving measures. Must be a graduate of an AMA accredited educational program for Diagnostic Sonography or equivalent. Registry preferred. Prior experience of 3-5 years required. Fulfills annual requirements for CPR and safety. Demonstrates working knowledge of all departmental equipment, infection control, safe practice skills at all times based on theory and consistent with policy and procedures. Complies with all hospital and department policies and procedures necessary to perform required activities. Understands and applies ethical and legal concepts to daily practice. Extensive contact with patients, families, all RRMC disciplines, physicians and outside agencies. Verbal communication will be ongoing addressing the explanation of procedures and the educational needs of patient/family, assessment of patient and response to therapy, and plan and initiation of patient discharge requirements.
