Position Summary
In this position, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides a full range of Respiratory Care to the patient from routine therapy, diagnostics, and assessment to mechanical ventilation in order to assist with treatments. The RRT makes visits to the patient's home and provides equipment delivery, educational instruction, patient support, and follow-up.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Respiratory Care Responsibilities
Operates, maintains, and monitors a wide variety of equipment including ventilators and those that are involved in the administration of prescribed gases and inhaled medications
Instructs/performs modality according to Policy and Procedures in order to provide at-home assistance
Schedules patient visits, performs patient care rounds, evaluates and develops respiratory care plans and revises them to meet patient's needs.
Documentation and Correspondence
Documents therapies, procedures, assessment, medications, equipment charges and set-ups
Maintains access and communication with discharge planner and social workers to provide for smooth discharge with home care equipment
Assists the billing department in assuring Certificates of Medical Necessity and prescriptions are completed
Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements Requirements are
representative of the minimum level of knowledge, skills and/or abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position
Registration by National Board of Respiratory Care Program
Current MT Respiratory Care license
Current BLS certification
Minimum of two years experience in home care and/or adult and pediatric acute care
Valid MT Driver's License, a clean driving record and ability to show proof of insurability annually
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment
Experience in understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position Full Time (36-40 hrs/week) Day
