Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)

Job Purpose: Works as a member of the medical team to provide general gastroenterology health care to individuals, evaluating health problems, instituting therapy in collaboration with the primary gastroenterologist and/or referring for other care.

Key Responsibilities:


Works as a float NP or PA in our Plymouth and Coon Rapids clinics as wells as supporting the hospitals those sites are responsible.

Completes initial and follow up consultation with patients in the hospital setting in collaboration with primary gastroenterologist.

Completes follow up consultation with patients in the clinical setting. Patient history and physical exams Documents patient contacts appropriately and in a timely manner to ensure consistency of care and adequate billing.

Initiation and management of therapies for preventative and chronic GI disease.

Issuing prescription orders for medications and completing prescription refill requests in 24 hours.

Review and sign off on labs with in 72 hours. Use formularies and guidelines to help patients manage the cost of their care.

Completes initial consultation with patients in the hospital setting for follow up with primary gastroenterologist.

Proficient use of electronic medical record

Collaborate with supervising physician

Excellent Medical decision making skills (using MNGI disease guidelines and protocols)

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Must be very flexible and be able to work in team driven setting

Coordinates bravo video capsules and in-patient procedures in hospital as defined by current guidelines.
Qualifications/Skills:

Educational Requirements:


Bachelors of Science

Bachelors in science, Physician Assistant Studies

Masters degree in Science

Masters degree in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner

Certifications/Licenses:
Certified Physician Assistant license or Licensed Nurse Practitioner

Experience:
One plus years of midlevel clinical experience in a hospital or clinic setting. GI experience helpful but not required.

Working Environment:
Employee will be working in a medical specialty clinic environment. Fast pace hospital environment is also required. Midlevel providers are required to take 6 weekends per year of hospital coverage.
