This Job Description provides criteria for evaluation of the Registered Nurse working in the Critical Care/Cardiovascular Service Line Director position. The Critical Care/Cardiovascular Service Line Director is responsible for overseeing the care of patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES E 1. Responsible and accountable for nursing care rendered in the department, based on the Nursing Process -- assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. E 2. Integrates service into the organization's primary functions. E 3. Responsible for coordinating and integrating interdepartmental and intradepartmental services. E 4. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services. E 5. Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care and treatment. E 6. Ensures that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, demonstrated, and improved on an on-going basis. E 7. Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided. E 8. Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate. E 9. Ensures orientation, ongoing training and continuing education progress for all persons in the department. E10. Recommends space and other resources needed by the department. E11. Participates in selecting sources for needed services not provided by the department or the organization. E12. Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the hospital. E13. Maintains and improves own nursing and management knowledge. Five years nursing management experience with progressive opportunities to refine administrative skills. Education 1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree required or actively seeking Masters in nursing or related field. Special Qualifications 1. Current Texas licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners 2. CPR certified
