We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented, and quality focused professional to assume the role of HIM Coding Manager. This position reports directly to the Director of HIM.
The primary responsibility and focus of the Coding Manager is to provide direct, ongoing leadership and oversight to the HIM Coding Team. The manager is responsible for successfully managing the organizational and administrative coding operations, including Inpatient, Outpatient, Urgent Care, Emergency Room and Ancillary Coding and Abstracting. This position is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all functions within the coding area in order to meet and maintain regulatory compliance, policies and procedures and personnel management. General Responsibilities: Ensure employees understand their role and responsibilities in achieving organizational successEstablish and communicate clear expectations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, confront behaviors that violate values or standards, and provide timely and thorough performance reviewsEnsure that employees are informed about department and hospital goals, strategies and action plans.Monitor coding processes to ensure quality and compliance standards are met. Work collaboratively with the Corporate Integrity office to facilitate coding audits, as needed.Monitor and manage the DNFB and maintain this at acceptable levels.Manage the section in a cost-effective manner by utilizing the appropriate materials management strategies, by maximizing use of human resources, and continuously re-evaluating the manner in which services are delivered.Ensure employee performance reviews are completed in a timely manner and the appropriate merit increases are recommended.Improve subordinate performance through ongoing counseling, coaching, delegation of authority, and by providing valuable feedback.Demonstrates working knowledge of multiple computer systems, including various SoftMed applications, 3M, OAS, EPIC, Document Imaging, and Microsoft products. Oversees the auditing and correction of database errors as it relates to coding and abstracting. Oversees the transmission of Death data to the State Vital Statistics Office. ...
