Job Description
Seeking an experience Sales Manager to lead, train, and motivate a team of technical sales professionals selling a wide range of specialty additives and commodity chemicals to industrial and manufacturing customers. As the REGIONAL SALES MANAGER you will have complete responsibility and accountability for a $35-70 million multi-state region.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
* Develop and implement a tactical business plan that supports the strategic vision of the company
* Manage the profitable growth of your sales region which could include over 7,500 different commodity and specialty chemical products such as: solvents, acids, bases, glycols, catalysts, defoamers, pigments, extenders, plasticizers, glycerine, polymers, ketones, chelants, lubricants, resins, surfactants, oils, silicones, alcohols, peroxides, and many others
* Provide product or application training as required to ensure overall technical competency of your sales team
* Lead and train technical sales team in areas of problem-solving and consultative sales techniques
* Set stretch goals for individuals and team to achieve high performance levels
* Develop target account strategies and conduct joint sales calls at customer plant locations
* Provide feedback, coaching, and establish career development plans
* Assist with the development and delivery of commercial proposals and customer presentations for all products and projects within the region
* Remain current on industry developments and emerging trends (technological, competitive, and environmental)
* Respond promptly to rapidly changing customer demands
* Travel throughout the region as required to provide support and to drive profitable new growth
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* B.S. in Chemistry, Engineering, or related Science/Technical degree
* 10+ years of Sales experience within the Fine/Specialty Chemical or Chemical Distribution industries
* 5+ years of Sales Management experience as District Manager, Regional Manager, or Sales Director of a team of 10 or more salespeople
* Industry expertise or existing relationships within three (3) or more of the following segments: Adhesives & Sealants, Agriculture, Automotive/Transportation, Building & Construction, Chemical Manufacturing, Energy, Food & Beverage, Institutional, Industrial Manufacturing, Inks & Printing, Lubricant Additives, Metalworking, Paints & Coatings, Personal Care, Pharmaceutical, Polymer Additives, Pulp & Paper
* Prior chemical sales experience, technical service, or research and development (R knowledge of SAP is a plus
* Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
