Schools such as Creighton University are offering a doctoral degree in leadership in a completely online format. The institution recently launched the program in order to assist those who are preparing for a career in business, education or healthcare. Courses are prepared and led by full-time Creighton faculty from a variety of liberal arts backgrounds, and the curriculum for this program is founded upon Jesuit concepts of social justice and service to others.
More than 4.6 million students nationwide were enrolled in online courses during the 2008 academic year, according to a recent report by the Babson Survey Research Group and the Sloan Consortium.
