The Neuropsychology Service in the Division of Neuro-Oncology provides neuropsychological evaluation and/or personality assessment and consultation to aid in the diagnosis, and management of patients with neuropsychological disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The purpose of these evaluations is to aid in: clarifying neurological and psychiatric diagnosis; to determine appropriate therapeutic, rehabilitative, remedial, or counseling strategies; to evaluate progression of a disease or response to treatment; to aid in the study of brain dysfunction of an unusual nature; and to establish degree of impairment for medical purposes.
We are seeking a doctoral level trained neuropsychologist to provide inpatient and outpatient evaluations, provide teaching and supervision of neuropsychology trainees, and participate in program development.
The Department of Neurosurgery is a highly active clinical and research department within the School of Medicine (SOM). The department conducts its clinical, teaching, and research activities at four UCSF campuses: Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Veteran s Administration Medical Center (VAMC), San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH) and the Helen Diller Cancer Building at Mission Bay.

Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from an American Psychological Association approved program; and one year of post-doctoral experience in Clinical Psychology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position
Possession of a valid license in Psychology issued by the California Board of Psychology
Completion of the equivalent of a full time postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology or 2 years of experience as a clinical neuropsychologist
Experience in the administration and interpretation of standardized neuropsychological batteries
Experience in providing psychoeducation and mental health interventions to patients with cognitive impairments
Experience working with patients with severe psychosocial stressors, acute and chronic traumas, substance abuse problems and characterological difficulties
Able to obtain Medical Staff Privileges at UCSF/SFGH
Must be able to work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced environment
Demonstrated competency in working with culturally diverse, low income and medically indigent patients
Excellent organizational and strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
NOTE: PHYSICAL/HEALTH SCREENING REQUIRED.
Preferred Qualifications: Verbal and written fluency in Spanish
Previous experience working as a neuropsychologist in the public sector
Prior related UC experience
License/Certification: Valid license in Psychology issued by the California Board of Psychology
