The Senior Staff Quality Assurance Engineer will develop and drive quality objectives and methodology revolving around ownership of both product family quality and company-wide processes. This individual will develop key performance indicators to support company-wide strategic initiatives and goals. They will use these metrics to determine what actions are required and then lead quality improvements. In addition the engineer will facilitate process improvements and assist product teams in successful translation of customer critical to quality (CTQ) items into high quality products that can be robustly manufactured.
As assigned, the Senior Staff Quality Assurance Engineer will independently manage Quality Assurance improvement projects. These projects will include implementation of new engineering and process techniques and methods. The engineer is responsible for driving these changes and creating company-wide acceptance and capability.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE KEEN TO TRY SOMETHING NEW: Develop quality engineering methodologies to support Manufacturing, Purchasing, and R&D activities and processes.
Participate in strategic planning for overall company product quality and processes to help determine key performance indicators and the resulting required actions.
Independently manage projects and provide guidance to other QA personnel.
Lead product reliability engineering from planning phase to product release including definition of requirements, test protocols and testing
Represent Quality Assurance function during New Product Development Process, Design Reviews, and sustaining activities, including product reliability
Lead Design Assurance activities such as Quality Planning, Risk Analyses, FMEA and Design Reviews.
Define and utilize standard statistical analysis techniques to determine product acceptance, evaluate process capabilities, and developing statistically sound tolerance limits based on product specifications.
Define processes for planning and conducting in-depth reviews, testing and verifications/validation of product features and also executing according to the defined processes.
Specify and develop improvements or enhancements to new and existing products and champion implementation if necessary.
Maintain and improve the supplier qualification process to ensure that supplier quality meets strategic company goals for delivery and quality.
Develop, validate, document and refine QA Test and Inspection procedures including gage R&R studies. Select and acquire equipment/tooling as required.
Evaluate and recommend QA sampling plans based on desired confidence limits, process capabilities, and manufacturing/inspection methods and equipment.
Provide technical guidance and training to other team members in statistical analysis techniques, experimental design, data analysis, sampling techniques and other traditional QA Engineering areas of expertise.
Maintain and improve quality systems.
YOU ARE: Masters degree in engineering, physics or equivalent field is required.
Minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience in quality assurance, failure analysis or product development with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Six Sigma experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with Marketing and with engineering groups in resolving design trade-offs.
In-depth understanding of statistical techniques such as normality analysis, confidence intervals and should be able to analyze and interpret data with high confidence.
Able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt quickly to change and work in a rapidly changing environment.
Prior work experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Medical electronic instruments, ophthalmic instruments, or optical devices or instruments.
