The Senior Director, Revenue Cycle Access Operations (SD) reports to the Chief Revenue Officer and is responsible for the strategic alignment and direction of the activities and performance of pre-claim revenue cycle access departments associated with all patient encounter activity within the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA). This position is also responsible for training and education, including curriculum development for CHA employees related to certain Epic and Meditech modules & activities. Responsible for outreach to patients to maintain high levels of patient engagement needed to succeed in participation of alternative payment models integrated into CHA's ACO and Medicaid Waiver responsibilities and requirements.
This position serves in a strategic role in managing certain revenue cycle operations at CHA including program planning, operational, service and budget performance, and the continual evaluation and redesign of systems by which patients gain access to CHA services and providers.
The SD is directly responsible for the development, implementation and overall operation of patient access services providing system wide oversight of services that facilitate patient access to outpatient services; financially securing patient care prior to or at time of care, indigent care or incorrect payer or demographic data and enhanced patient/family satisfaction with access services.
The position will coordinate with executive leadership to ensure that the planning and direction of comprehensive programs for revenue cycle access are aligned with CHA's strategic plan and work to appropriately integrate and facilitate best practices and achieve efficiencies while maintaining quality, compliance and service delivery standards.
As a key leader in the revenue cycle operations, this role collaborates with the leadership of other revenue cycle departments as well as various clinic leaders within the ambulatory care and clinical services department to improve patient access systems, enhance scheduling and registration processes, minimize billing issues, prevent denials, increase cash flow, support compliance and meet all State and Federal Regulatory requirements.
The SD partners with senior leadership of IT, Ambulatory Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, Quality and other institutional departments to coordinate and maintain appropriate strategies and support.
The SD also interfaces with external entities such as State and Federal regulatory agencies, vendors, other health care institutions, patients and families.
Bachelor's Degree required, Graduate Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, management or related discipline preferred
Ten years progressive responsible managerial roles of which 5+ years should be in healthcare/hospital revenue cycle management or related areas
Knowledge of detailed patient access and ambulatory patient interface processes
Knowledge of revenue cycle flow and the interdependence of systems that affect revenue cycle outcomes
Strong leadership, organizational and collaboration skills
Strong ability to speak to and drive operation key metrics
Excellent oral and written cross disciplinary communication skills
Strong experience in evaluating results of programs based on data analysis
Demonstrated ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to all levels of an organization
Specific knowledge in managing and improving the performance of complex operational systems and revenue cycle functions across multiple platforms
To be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with all levels in the organization
Systems thinker with demonstrated ability to automate operations and functions to achieve a high level of work output, performance, and efficiency in a decentralized organization
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
