The Department of Food Science, University of Massachusetts Amherst seeks a full-time (100%) Lecturer, non-tenure-track position beginning in Fall of 2020. We would like to fill an academic year Lecturer position to teach Food Science courses including (but not limited to): Food Microbiology and Food Processing laboratories as well as a large lecture course. In addition, this position would work with faculty on student recruiting, internships and product development.
Examples of duties: * Teaching large lecture sections (200 students) each semester.
* Teaching a variety of laboratory courses on food microbiology and food processing.
* Work with faculty on student recruiting, internships and product development.
Other Functions * Work collaboratively and effectively to promote teamwork, diversity, equality and inclusiveness.
* Work in partnership with colleagues within the CNS community and across the campus to support the Dean s strategic priorities.
* Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the College of Natural Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure) * PhD degree in food science.
* Experience in experimental aspects of food science.
* Knowledge of food microbiology and food processing.
* Laboratory experience and familiarity with proper use and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m., schedule may vary
