WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an ORTHOPTIST with Seton Family of Hospitals-TX, you will have the opportunity to evaluate and treat ocular motility disorders. In this role, you will perform sensorimotor exams on both pediatric and adult strabismus patients. You will aid physicians in non-surgical treatment of Diplopia and Strabismus. You will be responsible to follow up with care for stable Amblyogenic patients. Our team is made up of 4 full time Pediatric Ophthalmologists, 1 part-time Pediatric Neuro Ophthalmologist and 1 part time Orthoptist. You will have the opportunity to work with our Pediatric Neuro Ophthalmologist. Our clinic is high volume with a caring touch. We serve the underprivileged and underinsured in our community. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assesses patient's vision, eye position and eye movement and supports the ophthalmologist by performing preliminary examinations.
* Diagnoses and formulates a treatment plan.
* Advises patients with low vision on the use of magnification and other strategies.
* Collects clinical data for audits and the establishment of relevant protocols.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: * REQUIRED CREDENTIAL(S): Orthoptist obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date. Certified Orthoptist preferred.
EDUCATION: * Diploma High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree requiredBachelor's degree preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE: * 2-3 years of Orthoptist experience preferred
* Completed two years in an accredited fellowship program a plus.
* Bilingual in Spanish a plus
