About the Job
Uses moderately complex athletic training concepts. Applies campus policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Provides moderately complex prevention and treatment of athletic injuries.
UC Merced Intercollegiate Athletics is charged with providing a dynamic recreational and fitness experience for students, staff, and faculty as well as guests and special programs affiliated with the campus. The Athletic Trainer supports this mission by providing preventative injury care to sport club athletes and by providing practice, game, and event care to intercollegiate student athletes. The Athletic Trainer must have a very clear understanding of the following areas of emphasis: injury care and prevention for athletes, risk management, and customer service. This position reports directly to the Head Athletic Trainer.
Athletic Training Service:
Provides athletic training services for Recreation and Athletic department home contests and practices, as scheduled. Manage student athletic trainers. Maintain open lines of communication with administrators and head coaches.
Provide detailed record keeping related to treatment provided to student-athletes during games and/or practices. Provides moderate to complex rehabilitation of athletic injuries through the use of various therapeutic exercise programs Maintains discretion and confidentiality and handles sensitive matters involving athletic injuries and treatment.
* Bachelors degree in appropriate area of specialization required.
* Valid CDL (California Driver's License) preferred.
* Valid State Athletic Trainer Licensure preferred.
* Valid National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) certification required.
* CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED certification required.
* Must pass criminal background check required.
Background check and fingerprinting may be required.
