The Contract & Grant Officer will perform duties pertinent to pre-award sponsored research proposal review and submission. Provide assistance to faculty and staff regarding sources of funding available and proposal preparation and submission. Review proposals to ensure the proper commitment of University resources, coordinate compliance with aspects of special review (e.g., Human Subjects, Animal Subjects, Conflict of Interest, Export Control, etc.), and address conformity with both University and sponsoring agency guidelines and policies.
The incumbent will review and analyze, and coordinate with supervisor if needed, the award document terms and conditions for acceptability and compliance with University policies. Interpret sponsor approval requirements, policies, federal regulations, state statutes and University policy related to the management and administration of extramural awards. Analyze, coordinate and approve post award requests and actions. Act as liaison between the University and the sponsoring agencies.
This Contract & Grant Officer will maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and funding agency policies. Receive assignments on project basis and fully analyze problems, gather data and information, and recommend solutions. Will be delegated signature authority.
~ Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Graduate from college with a major in business administration, economics, statistics, educational administration, political science, or an allied field, and two (2) years of experience in in sponsored research administration preferably within a higher education environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Proven knowledge and ability to perform review of funding solicitations and to analyze and negotiate resulting awards in relation to receipt of University funding from extramural sponsors.
Proven ability to read, analyze terms and understand conditions of basic award agreements and recognize potential problems.
Strong organization skills. Ability to manage a high volume of transactions. Demonstrated ability to perform independently with minimal direction or training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information in a clear, organized, and concise manner. Comfortable in presenting complex issues to large groups of stakeholders.
Superb customer service and interpersonal skills including diplomacy, tact, and patience when interacting with all individuals both internal and external to the organization.
Demonstrated ability to maintain independent judgment.
