Housekeeper/Cook is underthe supervision of the Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager. Housekeeper/Cook has the overall responsibility for the general upkeep and cleaning of the facility, cooking of all meals, snacks, food shopping and orders, also stock rotation of food.
The Direct Support Professional works directly with persons being served in program activities, both in the home and in the community. If and when you are functioning as Medical Assistant you are directly accountable to the R.N for duties specific to medical domains as described. If and when you are functioning as aDirect Support Professional you are responsible for the direct care and development of the individual by providing assistance and training in skills attainment. Function at a full capacity within your job description and requirement. The agency has embraced the concept of a fully integrated system of care for all individuals of service. This requires that all staff assesses the individual's needs holistically and see it as their responsibility to connect the individuals with services needed-internal or external to the agency, regardless of which of the individuals enters the system. Assess the needs of the whole individuals/family including their basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter. Ensure that referrals are made to appropriate internal and external services as required to meet the individual's families' needs. Follow-up on referrals you make on behalf of an individual s family and respond to all referrals made to you/your program. Participate in cross-program service reviews that support the planning and coordination of service delivery and service closure and Other Duties as assigned.
+ Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies; submit order where/when applicable.
+ Storing household supplies in its appropriate area maintain in a neat and organized manner.
+ Empty garbage in all rooms/offices on a daily basis.
+ Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors/carpets and stairways on a daily basis or as specified.
+ Dust and polish all furniture and A/C vents throughout the facility on a weekly basis
+ Clean all bathroom showers and tubs on a daily basis.
+ Dust all windowsills in the facility monthly.
+ Ensure that lint is cleaned from the dryers weekly and the area behind the washer is lint and debris free.
+ Responsible for all garbage removal daily and collecting all recyclables items including transporting items at a designated time and place
+ Ensure that garbage and recyclable is put to the curb as needed.
+ Responsible for maintaining clean environment internally and around exterior of building daily.
+ Bring garbage cans to the side of the residence after pick up.
+ Reports as indicated needs for service/repairs and inventory (e.g. specialized maintenance) receipts and financial records for food and supplies.
+ Maintains and submits timely and accurate records and reports regarding the development status, progress and other related information concerning the program and individuals.
+ Assumes duties as housekeeper as required.
+ Prepares, cooks, and serves food according to appropriate practices.
+ Organizes assists, supervises and, when necessary, prepares meals for residents.
+ Responsible for safe preparation and storage of all food items used at the center through.
+ Responsible for requisitioning appropriate amounts of food at established intervals and preparing designated menus.
+ Stores foods appropriately before and after cooking in bins, cupboards, or refrigerators.
+ Prepares vegetables by washing, scraping, peeling, and chopping.
+ Cooks meats, sauces, desserts, and other foods.
+ Records amounts on food, including milk used daily.
+ Washes and sterilizes dishes, pots, and utensils after meals.
+ Confers with Program Manager when menu changes are indicated (i.e. necessary substitution or the use of leftovers).
+ Responsible to apportion food for individuals according to their need.
+ Follows the completion of the menu; cook prepares food purchase inventory subject to the Assistant Director approval.
+ Adheres to all funding source standards in addition to the Agency (The Salvation Army) policies and procedures; seeks guidance/clarification from their immediate supervisor regarding interpretation, applicability, and implementation.
+ Development of A.D.L. (Activities of Daily Living) and ILS (Independent Living Skills) as it relates to individuals.
+ Appropriately communicates to staff and supervisors, both verbally and in writing (i.e. incident reports, residence s log book) pertinent residents and/or program issues, ensuring the continuity of care and efficient operation of the residence. Read residence log book daily.
+ Participate in interdisciplinary treatment meetings and regularly scheduled residents reviews, as required.
+ Maintains ongoing knowledge of each resident s medical, psychological, cognitive and social needs and ensures that programming is appropriate to needs and treatment goals.
+ Report immediately any observed/known, physical plan & program of which include abuse & neglect, deficiencies problems, including physical plant/safety issues.
+ Provide habilitation services to each client as prescribed in that client s service plans (CFA, Individual Service plan, Habilitation plan)
+ Assist each resident, as needed, in skill development in areas such as activities of daily living, domestic living, medical appointment, recreation and socialization.
+ Ensure assigned clients nutritional needs are met according to prescribed diet, and assist with feeding as necessary.
+ Assumes responsibility for agency and/or resident funds personally assigned for purposes of making residents or program purchases.
+ Strictly adheres to and enforces all the Agency policies regarding Confidentiality, HIPAA requirements, and Corporate Compliance regulations.
+ Attendance standards: Monday Friday 6:00am 8:00am, 12:00noon 6:00pm.
+ Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons and population served.
+ The essential functions for the job include, but are not limited to, the duties in the job description
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent required, some experience working in the Human Service or related field.
+ FoodHandlersCertificate preferred.
+ Two years of experience in food preparation preferred.
+ Basic Computer skills for menu planning and food ordering, ability to read and write in English, and use a Telephone, Fax machine, and Copier.
+ AMAP Certification, SCIP R and CPR & First Aide preferred.
+ A Valid Driver s License is required (Must be able to drive large vehicle which consisted of wheel chair or 15 seated van).
+ Has respect and consideration for the resident being served.
+ Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
+ Should have ability to do frequent walking, sitting, talking, or hearing.
+ Occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, & crouching.
+ Should be able to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, & office equipment.
+ Ability to read printed materials and computer screens.
+ Ability to write.
+ Ability to travel between program sites as needed.
