JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following sets forth the primary responsibilities of this job, but is not an exhaustive list. The Bank, through its managers and supervisors, reserves the right to assign any additional duties necessary to meet the needs of our clients, associates and/or shareholders.
1.Responsible for underwriting and decision making on business credits (less than $1MM in exposure) received from the Commercial Relationship Management team in compliance with the Bank s lending policies and procedures.
2.Manage the credit process from early on in the relationship. Assisting with call preparation and possibly calling on the client with the Relationship Manager when possible.
3.During the underwriting process the SAO will correspond with applicants to resolve questions regarding application information.
4.Provide leadership and training to less experienced loan officers and other staff members.
5.Perform pre-screen assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
6.Gather and analyzes all information necessary to present a financing request to Senior Management for approval; meets with existing or potential clients; visiting sites of loans; negotiates loan terms and conditions; approves loans within established lending limits or refers and recommends acceptance to the Chief Credit Officer and Director of Credit Management .
7.Coordinate processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, clients needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from clients.
8.Ensure that credit inquires and UCC filings are researched to determine credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved.
9.Negotiate, underwrite and process renewals of credit facilities.
10.Authorize commitment, engagement and decline letters.
11.Develop and maintain knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates and competition.
12.Cross sells the Bank s other products and services, referring clients to appropriate staff as indicated.
13.Update and correspond with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken.
14.Assist in meeting annual deposit and loan growth goals assigned by senior management; participates in various internal committees assigned by senior management.
15.Assist Senior Management with developing, analyzing and finalizing complex loan agreements with representatives of large businesses.
16.Consistently applies superior decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for associate development.
17.Assume responsibility for special projects; gathers data and prepares reports for Senior Management, audits and other personnel.
18.Maintain current knowledge and consistent compliance with regulations and bank policies and procedures related to the position, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements.
19.Interact with others (co-workers, management, clients, and vendors) in a professional and tactful manner including treating them with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Required: This position requires the following educational and/or job experience:
Bachelor s degree required in finance, accounting, related discipline or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
7+ years of financial analyzing or lending background.
Advanced experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
Advanced knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan processing.
Experience as a commercial credit analyst, commercial relationship manager, regulatory examiner or credit review officer in a financial institution.
Emphasis on direct regulatory or credit risk management experience.
Advanced degree or certification related to field.
10+ years of related experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The following is intended to give an overview of the requirements of the position, but is not an exhaustive list.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
Advanced knowledge of related state and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and members of the general public.
Proficient with MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Advanced math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly to clients and associates.
Ability to deal with normal problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The following is intended to give an overview of the work environment of the position, but is not an exhaustive list.
Office setting with traditional hours.
Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time (typically no longer than 8 hours).
Must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the workday.
Must be able to work overtime to the extent necessary.
