POSITION SUMMARY
Ensures daily and weekly that the facility is cleaned to the highest standards with emphasis on floors, restrooms and all guest contact areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Although not limited to, the following are the responsibilities of the janitor assigned to the Burbank Corps:
Daily
Empty Non-recyclable trash can and replace liners
Clean toilets, sinks, and floors in all restrooms & and fully stock with supplies
Sweep and mop all hard surface floors in both buildings
Thoroughly clean the entry, including trash removal, reception desk counter and lobby tables and chairs
Wipe down the dining room tables, wash/fold/organize the table clothes
Daily clean and maintain all rooms and meeting places.
Weekly
Empty recyclable trash cans & place in recycling bin
Clean internal windows
Dust clear countertops, file cabinets and desktops
Vacuum all classrooms and wipe the desks and chairs
Clean kitchen: sinks, wipe down countertops, workspace and wipe down the outside of the refrigerator
Maintain inventory of janitorial, restroom & breakroom supplies and give the report to supervisor on a weekly basis or sooner if needed
Keep outside areas free of trash and clutter.
Clean and wash all windows as necessary.
Clean and maintain gymnasium floor as instructed.
Drive to pick up materials as needed.
Report facility damage and repair needs to the Officers in charge.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability
to lift up to 20 lbs.
Must be able to drive a Salvation Army Vehicle and meet all necessary requirements to do so.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be able to lift, reach, bend and stoop
Be able to use a mop, broom and vacuum
Must have high sanitation standards including washing hands frequently throughout the shift
Must be able to tolerate brief exposure to cleaning chemicals
Must be at least 21 years of age
Complete Salvation Army Decision Driving course training
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
High ethics an integrity
Agile to perform physical tasks constantly
In depth knowhow of standard cleaning procedures
Familiar with handling inventory of cleaning supplies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively individually and with a team
Work with children and young people environment requires Protect the Mission certification
