JOB DESCRIPTIONLaurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground, basketball courts, and gymnasium. The multi-disciplinary staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all treatment disciplines. Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization. Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is currently seeking a Director of Clinical and Social Services.
The Director of Clinical and Social Services (LCSW) supervises patient care duties and all services, counseling, activities, volunteer, treatment planning, etc., of a clinical/therapeutic nature. Duties will include:
* Providing clinical supervision for Therapists and Social Workers. * Overseeing and evaluates the appropriateness of social services provided at the facility. * Providing consultation to Therapists, Social Workers on problematic/difficult cases. * Ensuring quality and quantity of patient services is appropriate (i.e., that individual, group, and family therapy is provided as needed and required.) * Serving as a role model for quality patient care and supports and environment conductive to professional growth. * Participating in developing, interpreting, and implementing hospital and departmental philosophy, objectives, standards, policies & procedures. * Assessing Quality Improvement Program for Clinical Programs in conducted. * Interviewing prospective Therapists and other related personnel. * In collaboration with the Risk Manager, may investigate unusual incidents and complaints from patients, personnel, and other departments and keeps the CEO informed. * Participates in staff development programs and orientation of new employees. * Shares program management call with Unit Directors/Therapists/Social Workers and/or others as directed. * Plans, develops and coordinates the needs of the program with other disciplines, activities and programs; provides for staff support and assesses integration of efforts. * Evaluates the effectiveness of the total program, makes recommendations and changes as indicated. * Assures continuing staff effectiveness for assigned area of responsibility; provides for counseling and guidance to individual staff. * Provides direct patient care of programming as a method of clinical support or instruction. * Has direct input into discharge and aftercare planning.
Provides for a wide-range of therapeutic modalities utilizing clinical resources available.
Master s Degree in Social Work field with minimum of five years experience and minimum of two (2) years experience in supervisory capacity.
LCSW LICENSURE REQUIRED
Previous experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed and/or clinically dependent in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Extensive knowledge of normal growth and development for the population served.
Extensive knowledge of addictions and recovery process.
Strong knowledge of group leadership abilities.
Self-motivated with strong initiative to follow programmatic demands and responsibilities of position.
