We have an exciting opportunity for a Global Marketing Director Hepatitis, within Infectious
Disease Emerging Markets, Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (ARDx). This opportunity is based in Chicago,
Illinois, and will report to the Vice President Global Marketing, Infectious Disease Emerging
This is a unique opportunity to leverage their technical background and market expertise as they
lead global product management for a growing disease franchise. As well, the scope of
responsibilities includes market development, upstream/downstream marketing, and business
development within the IDEM business. Have full ownership and oversight in the development and
execution of the product portfolio and marketing programs to support business growth.
Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbotts Diagnostics family of businesses,
bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies to support
diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases
and other conditions.
Owns market-leading Hepatitis Point of Care Diagnostics Franchise. Develops and drives long term strategy and roadmap. Leads marketing activities to achieve growth objectives.
Develop franchise strategy, in close collaboration with other functions and leaders
Define and drive future product roadmap, to meet growth goal
Contribute to overall business strategy from the Hepatitis franchises perspective
Develop business cases for new opportunities, through deep insights and analytics
Drive and coordinate franchise-specific marketing activities, promotions and projects with other functions
Maintain effective internal alignment on growth goals, messaging and positioning with all relevant functions
Drive connectedness of marketing function with both customers and sales. But the internal champion for customer needs.
Own and manage current product portfolio offering
Establish market research needs, commission and execute research as needed
Drive segmentation, targeting and positioning through quantitative and qualitative
analysis, segmentation tools as well as customer and sales insights
Develop and own branding and messaging in order to create competitive advantage
Articulate differentiated value propositions by stakeholders and personas.
Develop global launch plans, articulated by region, and drive them in close collaboration
with sales, R&D and other relevant functions
Clinical & Economics
Leverage health economics and evidence building for competitive differentiation and market building
Develop and leverage relationships with key opinion leaders and influencers among customers
Defines key clinical outcomes and focus of studies to substantiate value proposition
Develop, refine and iterate marketing plans to achieve growth goals
Drive execution of marketing plans with internal and external partners
Plan and execute promotional campaigns, develop and drive materials and collaterals
Maintain accurate and current competitive intelligence, preempt competitors as much as possible, develop appropriate responses together with field

Bachelors degree required
Minimum 8 years of relevant commercial experience (e.g., marketing, sales)
Minimum 5 years of experience in medical, devices, or diagnostics fields
Upstream and Downstream Marketing experience required
Travel required up to 30%, globally
Must have emerging markets experience
Demonstrated successful, compliant brand management with financial acumen through the application of appropriate rules, guidelines and financial principles
Advanced degree preferred (eg. MBA)
Diagnostics and Medical Device experience highly desired
