JOB DESCRIPTIONThe University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases & Geographic Medicine, is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level and above. Applicants must have an M.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school, and have satisfactorily completed an Internal Medicine residency program, and an Infectious Diseases fellowship program, from an ACGME accredited program. Candidates must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified/eligible in Infectious Diseases. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
Candidates will be expected to develop externally-funded independent research programs. We are interested in applicants who are creatively pursuing 'cutting-edge' research on medically important pathogens including those resistant to antimicrobials, emerging pathogens, novel pathogen discovery, and/or agents of potential biothreat. UTSW is an outstanding scientific environment with established strengths in structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, and numerous other areas. UTSW has a strong tradition of academic excellence and an exceptionally collegial and collaborative culture that cuts across departmental boundaries. We offer other substantial resources such as outstanding core facilities and research infrastructure. Other duties include providing patient care on the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Consult Services at Clements University Hospital and Parkland Hospital and in the Parkland and UTSW clinics. Participation in the teaching and training of medical students, residents and ID fellows is also expected.
