JOB DESCRIPTION

INTERMEDIATE INTERIOR DESIGNER (full-time; multiple openings) needed to work in Detroit, MI to collaborate on interior design projects which include corporate office headquarters and corporate campuses for clients within the workplace and automotive industry. Develop interior design strategies that include programming client needs, developing conceptual and schematic design strategies, space planning strategies, and preparing construction documentation. Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture and specifications. Generate finished plans and material selections required for construction. Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives. Visit project sites to participate in the construction administration of projects, and review submittals and finish samples. Use computer-aided drafting (CAD) and related software to produce construction documents. Produce presentations using InDesign and prepare graphic renderings of plans, elevations, and 3D views using Photoshop. Resolve complex design and technical issues. Communicate with clients to develop the design direction for the project and determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, and purpose and function. Strategize proposals for new or repeat business. Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients within the workplace corporate practice area. Lead design critiques and design forums. Integrate sustainability concepts into design.

Must have a Master s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of experience as an Intermediate Interior Designer, Interior Designer, or related position. The two (2) years of experience must include experience with the following:

(1) AutoCAD; REVIT; SketchUp; Illustrator; InDesign; 3DS Max; Rhino, AND Photoshop

(2) Virtual Reality set up in REVIT including HTC VIVE

(3) Furniture resourcing, specification, and finish palettes for corporate workplace design projects;

(4) Conceptual design of corporate workplaces by hand sketching and Sketchup

(5) Developing large, complex interior design floor plans for corporate workplace environments

(6) graphic presentation and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas

Must also have completed a 3 credit Bachelor s level or Master s level coursework in Industrial Design, Lighting Design, or Advanced Drafting Concepts.

In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor s degree design experience. Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor s degree design experience must include experience with the following

1) AutoCAD; REVIT; SketchUp; Illustrator; InDesign; 3DS Max; Rhino, AND Photoshop

(2) Virtual Reality set up in REVIT including HTC VIVE

(3) Furniture resourcing, specification, and finish palettes for corporate workplace design projects;

All experience may be acquired concurrently. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
