What do you say, are you ready to define high performance for the world?Summer Intern (Purchasing and Logistics)This program gives students the experience of working in a business, manufacturing, and/or technical environment, which will assist them in relating their academic studies to practical work situations. Interns will develop a working knowledge of the truck and engine industry in one or more of the following areas: Navistar's product lines and distribution channel; our various product lines; the retail transactional environment; the operations of a truck dealership; the operations of a parts distribution center; engineering, manufacturing, materials management, purchasing and logistics, vehicle electronics, information technology, finance/accounting, marketing, communications, human resources. Students will also develop an understanding of International's infrastructure, values, and will gain some applicable business skills and knowledge along with developing analysis to drive decisions on financial hedging, developing analysis to support supplier negotiations, understand commodity pricing and how to forecast based on macro and micro economics and cost analysis of a supplier's business.Primary Duties and Responsibilities and Desired End Results are:- Research commodity pricing to support supplier negotiations- Build historical pricing database of commodity pricing- Research risk management groups at other industrial companies- Work with Treasury on understanding their requirements for financial hedging- Develop the forecasts, volumes and market analysis required to make hedging recommendations- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree- Reliable transportation- Valid driver's license- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required - For certain positions (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.)Desired Skills:- Positive Attitude, Ethics, and International Values which support our company's values, and a healthy, high performance culture- MBA in process- Technical and/or business understanding of steel- Steel Global Sourcing experience- Negotiating experience- Previous applicable internships- Project/Program Management experience- Familiarity with Commercial Truck/Bus/Diesel Engine Products and Marketplace- Ability to prepare and deliver business presentations to individuals and groups- Ability to take responsibility for multiple projects to achieve goals and meet deadlines- Demonstrated ability to formulate, communicate, and implement short and long-term strategies for commodities, components and services- Experience in effectively managing both internal and external relationships with cross-functional groups and suppliers- Knowledge of or past negotiating experience in the commodities markets: mainly steel- Self-starter with strong work ethic- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations- GPA of 3.0 or higher- High level of computer skills (Microsoft Applications and Internet)Visit us at to discover more about our organization.Powering Ingenuity.
