JOB DESCRIPTIONNote: This is an on-call position that has the capability to work remotely from home.
The Editor / Writer performs professional and complex editing and writing projects that explain and interpret a variety of topics relevant to the fair housing community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge / quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative / motivation, cooperation / relationships, problem analysis / discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral / written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability / dependability, flexibility and ownership / accountability of actions taken.
Edits all materials, artifacts, manuals and other written documents submitted for publishing. Checks for manner of presentation, grammatical precision, consistency with publishing regulations, style / format requirements, compliance with Federal government and NFHTA policies, procedures and objectives.
Evaluates and analyzes content of submissions to ensure each artifact meets the needs and education levels of the audience.
Ensures artifacts are presented in a clear and concise format. Makes significant revisions to improve and enhance coverage, readability and value.
Composes and drafts correspondence to promote and market NFHTA programs and training courses.
Provides guidance on all marketing and training artifacts and resource manuals. Provides feedback as to their suitability, marketability and readability for NFHTA’s stakeholders.
Manages and edits the content on NFHTA’s main and supporting websites.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field of study, and a minimum of ten (10) years extensive experience in marketing, copy editing, document creation or web publications; or equivalent combination of education / experience. Experience with curriculum development and training required.

* Demonstrated ability to accurately implement GPO Style Manual
* Expert working knowledge of the English language with ability to correctly apply rules of grammar and punctuation
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced editing and proofreading skills
* Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows / Office programs (e.,, Word , Excel , Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and SharePoint)
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to research and analyze data
* Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
* Highly organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing production components and schedules
* Ability to work independently
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professiona1journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
