Senior Business Line Analyst

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is seeking a Senior Business Line Analyst to develop and maintain processes and tools to analyze and report Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF) metrics and relevant mortgage industry or membership data and trends for distribution to the Mortgage Product Group (MPG), FHLB senior management, Board of Directors, other stakeholders and outside parties as needed. The individual in this role will assist the Mortgage Product Group with MPG business technology/applications planning, analytics, and also by participating in actual MPG operations tasks from time to time as needed.


Strategize with MPG management to define analytical research direction and output. Exercise independent judgement in assignments that have significant impact on operational efficiency and quality within the MPG.

Proactively seek out ways to further enhance the user experience and leverage the SalesLogix platform to understand current performance results and identify specific opportunities to enhance Operational Excellence.

Design, develop, implement and maintain business technology solutions based upon MPG business strategy. Work closely with third-party vendors and FHLB IT employees to fully develop business requirements for technology/application needs.

Work with end users to provide best practices and tips on SalesLogix usage including training, documentation and support as needed.

Provide day-to-day user support and training for SalesLogix, Sharepoint, Qliksense, and other technology tools utilized by MPG.

Develop, validate and maintain processes and tools to facilitate reporting of key mortgage information to management, regulators, the Board, and other stakeholder both within and possibly outside the Bank; and to support MPF-related business decisions.

Monitor mortgage information and industry trends. Develop and distribute reports giving Bank specific and other related industry information on a daily, weekly, monthly or other scheduled basis. Produce and distribute ad hoc reports to various internal and external stakeholders as needed. Work closely with other groups within the Bank to ensure there mortgage information needs are being effectively and accurately met.

During periods of high volume, assist the Mortgage Product Group operations staff to complete needed customer service, regulatory or other work on a timely basis.

Provide technical and analytical support to the Mortgage Products sales function.

Perform other duties as requested.


Bachelor's Degree with a major in Finance or other applicable business discipline. Experienced related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. Advanced degree, Project Management or Business Analyst Certification desired but not required.

Four to six years of experience in the banking and finance industry with preferably 3 or more years in residential mortgage operations.

Two to four years of project management, business analytics, or equivalent experience.

Strong analytical skills, including mathematical and statistical proficiency as well as demonstrated ability to synthesize disparate or conflicting data and information, summarize results of analysis, and present conclusions or proposed actions.

Proficiency in MS Office, Excel especially, Sequel Server Management Studio, and a strong aptitude for learning the use of database query tools including Access, Sequel Reporting Services, Qlik Sense, or similar applications.

Strong written and oral communication skills.
