Senior ETL Development Engineer

Position Summary:

TACG is looking for a highly skilled, Senior ETL Development Engineer to assist in the development of an Operational Data Store (ODS) within our client s Common Computing Environment (CCE) Azure Cloud. The ODS will be used to ingest, stage, perform data quality and provide access to data in support of the Governments Supply Chain Planning reengineering efforts. This is a senior role that will help deploy data feeds for a new enterprise Advanced Planning and Scheduling capability. Activities will involve staging and analyzing data from the Government legacy environment and preparing it for use by a commercially hosted off the shelf solution. Tasks include source-to-target mapping, ETL design, metadata capture, feed scheduling and management, and ETL development using Azure SQL Database and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) with some refactoring of Basic Teradata Query (BTEQ) scripts and Informatica ETL.


* Conduct or participate in meetings with key system owners to understand the Governments current data and systems environment

* Analyze source system data to assess data quality and work with technical and business representatives to determine strategies for handling identified data anomalies

* Design ETL processes and develop source to target data mappings

* Develop, test, and deploy ETL routines using ETL tools and external programming/scripting languages, as necessary

* Integrate ETL routines into production job streams

* Monitor and optimize the performance of the ETL routines and environment

* Administer and maintain the ETL environment, including performing configuration management activities related to the ETL environment

* Knowledge and experience with various operating systems (e.g., Unix, Linux, Windows Server)

* Use of software version control tools (i.e., Subversion)

* Understanding of Web Services


* Bachelor of Science or Arts is required

* Degree preferred in Computer Science, or related technical field


* 4+ years designing ETL processes and developing source-to-target mappings

* 4+ years experience developing, testing, and deploying ETL solutions

* Experience implementing database solutions in an Azure Cloud SQL environment

* Very strong SQL skills required

* Experience optimizing ETL routines and environments

* Experience administering and maintaining ETL environments

* Experience working in Agile environments is a strong plus


* 2-5 years of experience related to Information Technology capabilities related to acquisition, development, implementation and fielding within the Department of Defense (DoD)

* Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), specifically Data Platform


* Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

* Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, team-based environment

* Ability to prioritize duties based on shifting demands

* Excellent verbal communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills with business and technical communities

* Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail

* DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (e.g., Security+ CE)
