POSITION SUMMARY: Manages, coordinates, and evaluates all elements of financial, material and human resources in the provision of nursing care to assigned groups of patients in accordance with the service and missions of the institution.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required. *(For incumbents hired before 03/2018, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing must be obtained by 01/2021.)

2.
Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.
Specialty certification desirable.

EXPERIENCE:

1.
Four years nursing experience with at least two years management experience.



SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.
Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal and interdepartmental relationships.

2.
Demonstrates competency as appropriate in patient care assessment for each patient population area served: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.

3.
Knowledge of growth and development.

4.
Understanding of the patient s needs and scope of treatment.

5.
Understanding of the dynamics for each patient incorporating biophysical, bio psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural, ethical, and discharge planning needs.

6.
Knowledge of pain management to facilitate patient comfort through a proactive pain control plan.

7.
Knowledge of the total care of patients, whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment, focusing on the control of pain and other symptoms.

8.
Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected change in work, volume, acute crises, staffing, and scheduling changes.

9.
Demonstrates caring and respectful attitude towards patients, families, and co-workers. Promotes good interpersonal relationships.

10.
Demonstrates ability to handle patient assignments, completes assignments in a timely fashion, and demonstrates ability to manage staff accordingly.

11.
Demonstrates competency in education, safe administration and monitoring of medications.

12.
Demonstrates competency on safe and effective use of equipment.
