The Global Commercial Lead works closely with Japan HQ to shape the product development plan, by leading cross-multifunctional teams and providing global perspective and strategic direction at each step of the R&D process to improve decision making and enhance product design using integrating commercial insights to gain an overall competitive advantage in the marketplace.

The Global Commercial Lead will develop and lead the global commercialization plan and launch a roadmap to optimize the value of products and prepare for market success, by leading cross-functional teams and works.

Therapeutic areas: Infectious Diseases, CNS/ Pain, Oncology.


Global Commercial Lead (GCL) will have global commercial accountability and will have responsibility for establishing the global ambition for these new products and developing and driving the global commercial strategy throughout POC to life cycle management stage.
The GCL will lead the Global Commercial Matrix group/team to develop and implement key global commercial strategies/activities including global commercial strategic document, customer insights, global branding, global positioning, key messages, global communication plan, and associated budgets.
Will interact with Regional Marketing Teams as well as Global Marketing Teams in all countries where Shionogi has established commercial operations.
The GCL will be responsible to obtain endorsement from global commercial decision making bodies for key commercial decision.
As member of the Strategy and Planning Project Team, the GCL will provide integrated, global commercial input into the Global Development Plan, clinical development plans and other key decisions.
As part of the Strategy and Planning Project Team, the GCL will develop the lifecycle management strategy.
The GCL will obtain feedback and drive consensus among key stakeholders on key commercial decisions, including regionally and globally based staff in marketing, payer/reimbursement, health outcomes, clinical, regulatory, and project management.
The GCL position provides a single point of global commercial leadership and accountability for an asset from POC through lifecycle management.
The GCL will be accountable for ensuring patient, physician and payer unmet needs and insights are incorporated into the clinical development plan and the overall Global Development Plan to ensure commercial success across all major markets.
Extensive travel approximately 25% - domestic and international.
Will function as a lead in a matrix management environment.


Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences or related; MBA or graduate degree in related discipline preferred.
Minimum 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience which must include 8 plus years of direct experience in pharma commercial strategy and marketing.
Demonstrated experience coordinating least one global product launch.
Independent working style; a true self-starter.
Therapeutic Area marketing experience with Infectious Diseases, CNS/ Pain, Oncology disease is highly desired.
Extensive and successful track records of developing commercial strategy for early stage compounds and product launch experience including development and delivery of strategic launch plans.
Experience in new product market analysis, developing market insights and leveraging data for optimal decision making and forecasts.
Experience developing market insights & using them to drive decisions & forecasts.
Highly developed planning and prioritization skills to lead projects.
Strong track record of commercial leadership in both country (major country) and above-country roles
Demonstrated experience in leading successful cross functional teams, setting and managing global product budgets and overseeing global vendor agreements.
Proven ability to work well in global cross functional teams, with strong collaborative skills in development relationship required.
Experience working in the context of a complex and highly matrix global organization, in a multi-cultural environment and leading through influence.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels without authority.
Working knowledge of multiple pharmaceutical key markets.
Commercial Alliance experience (preferred).
Working knowledge of the global drug development process from proof of concepts.
Ability to influence and provide commercial insights into clinical development.
Ability to manage multiple tasks/assignments to demanding deadlines with minimal supervision and without compromising quality.
Must live a commutable distance from our US Corporate offices in Florham Park, NJ.
