JOB DESCRIPTION

A position is available for a long term coop at the Raleigh, NC site of Nokia's Fixed Networks SOC development team. This team is part of a worldwide SOC development team developing PON and other access communication products.

A successful candidate will have strong technical and communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a collegial and collaborative environment. The candidate will have the ability to read, write, and understand Verilog and VHDL. The candidate will understand the importance of simulation for design verification and will be able to plan and execute effective simulation test cases on complex design elements. The candidate will understand how to work with Linux/Unix workstations, to include common editing and scripting tools and languages. Prefer understanding of Python and familiarity with git or mercurial for source code management. We are looking for understanding of the technology involved in the realization of designs in ASIC or FPGA using RTL description, simulation, synthesis, and validation.

The successful candidate will be paired with a team member who will act as a mentor. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to the development work of the team.

Hiring for a long term coop - up to 2 years.

Master's candidate is preferred. Relevant coursework, to include the topics of RTL, synthesis, and simulation, is strongly preferred.



Candidate should be able to demonstrate understanding of basic steps to realize the implementation of a digital design in an ASIC or FPGA.



Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred. Bachelors candidate considered with appropriate background. Physics or Math majors also considered, again with appropriate background.
