JOB DESCRIPTION

Automotive News, a growing and dynamic news organization owned by Crain Communications Inc., is seeking a talented collegiate or post-graduate journalist to serve as a full- or part-time paid editorial intern during the fall 2018 term, with possible extension through the winter 2019 term. This is a challenging and high-visibility reporting internship, in which the intern covers live news, often in real time, and conducts a variety of other tasks, such as research. Applicants preferably should have at least one professional internship with a credible news organization. Some exposure to business or automotive journalism is a plus, but not mandatory. Hours are flexible and we can adapt hours to class schedules. Successful interns get considered for future advancement at our stable, growing publication.

Basic Qualifications

* Actively seeking a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. Graduates are welcome to apply.

* Strong writing and communication skills, excellent grasp of grammar and style.

* Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail.

* Strong critical thinking skills.

* Self-motivation.

* Team player who can work in a collaborative newsroom.

PREFERENCES

* Some journalism curriculum preferred.

* A professional internship with a credible news organization is preferred, but not mandatory.

* Some business or automotive experience is highly preferred, but not mandatory.

* Digital/multimedia experience is a major plus.
