POSITION SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, markets and originates loans to be sold in the secondary mortgage market (SMM) and refers eligible loans to other account executives. This position formulates business development strategies targeting potential Country Mortgage customers as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources for SMM loans.
Creates and maintains a proactive sales plan to develop new business with prospects which includes but is not limited to identifying, initiating contact by phone/email or personal contact and performing follow-up.
Develops and maintains network contacts within the real estate market, particularly focusing on a close working relationship with local realtors.
Keeps up-to-date on current market trends, key competitors, etc.; recognizes/identifies areas of opportunity presented based on changes and shifts in the marketplace.
Serves as the primary contact person and leads all Farm Credit marketing events related to the residential lending segment.
Effectively represents Farm Credit within the real estate community.
Loan Origination:
Interviews applicants, requests specific information for loan applications and determines appropriate investors. Initiates real estate loan applications involving qualifying the customer and assisting them in completing the application.
Price and lock-in loans according to association guidelines.
Processes loans through loan origination software.
Forwards all appropriate paperwork to processing unit within 48 hours.
Assists Processing and Underwriting units in communication with customer as needed.
Maintains a working knowledge of all laws and regulations related to the real estate industry and loan origination to assure that all duties and tasks performed are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing or Finance.
One to three years of experience in real estate lending loan origination.
One to three years of experience in the local real estate market.
Computer experience with working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Mortgage Origination software.
Excellent sales skills and self-starter.
Excellent organizational skills requiring minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of Fannie Mae requirements.
Working knowledge of Farm Credit eligibility and lending requirements.
Must be proficient in public speaking.
Makes clear and precise recommendations for loan approval.
Ability to travel to/from other branch offices, associations, AgFirst or other facilities.
