WGCL-TV, a Meredith Corporation station, is in search of a highly-qualified, motivated candidate for its Sports Producer. This role coordinates and produces sports segments, coordinates major sports coverage, produces weekend sportscasts. This position produces relevant/current sports shows that incorporate key local sporting events. May also assist with line producing or writing for newscasts. Produces content for current and future broadcast and digital platforms.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
20%-Content creation coordinates story development w/sports reporter/anchor.
20%-Show production creates production elements, coordinates live coverage.
20% Edits content.
20%-Booth producing if applicable coordinates live elements with crew and news team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
All must be met to be considered.
Bachelor s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Minimum four years of experience producing news for a television or cable station preferably in sports.
Experience with Avid, Internet production tools, and MS office strongly preferred.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to effectively communicate in aggressive, fast-paced news environment
Must be a self-starter with ability to follow through on projects until completion.
Ability to shoot and edit a plus.
Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Newscast producing, show writing, i-news experience preferred
In depth understanding of the news business.
Valid drivers license and good driving record.
Will require travel: 20%
