JOB DESCRIPTION

Provo Canyon School, a year round residential small setting private school, is seeking a secondary certified teacher who is endorsed to teach Life Science at our Springville Campus. Candidates should have a Utah Educator License. Teachers should feel comfortable and be licensed to teach Junior and Senior High School Life and General Science courses.

The school is seeking those with experience or a desire to work with emotionally distressed or at risk youth in a small classroom setting. Interested teachers should have or be willing to work toward an endorsement in mild to moderate Special Education. Funding for special education classes is provided through the school.

Job Requirements

Candidates should have a Utah Educator License. Teachers should feel comfortable and be licensed to teach Junior and Senior High School Life Science. Teachers certified to also teach math or an elective are preferred. Valid teaching certificate or proof of pending graduation from an accredited university; Mild to Moderate Special Education endorsement preferred; Bachelor s degree from an accredited university.

Basic skills desired in teacher applicants include: classroom supervision and management, assessment, planning, organization, evaluation, time management and interpersonal work habits, professional collaboration with peers, ability to apply a variety of instructional methodology with special populations, sound written and oral communication, record keeping, decision-making, and problem-solving.
