Quidel is searching for a Payroll Specialist to work at our Corporate office in the Mira Mesa area of San Diego. The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of a bi-weekly payroll. Duties include processing of timecard entry, data entry, payroll processing, and paycheck distribution. This individual will have a high level of responsibility as it relates to applying proper taxes to employees throughout the U.S.
Processes bi-weekly payroll accurately and in a timely fashion
Processes off-cycle payrolls and manual checks as needed
Utilizes payroll system to process bi-weekly payroll changes including, new hire information, terminations, LOA Status Changes, and employee deduction changes
Maintains and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
Interprets pay policies, (e.g., holiday worked, on call, overtime, shift differential, calculation basis for deductions, government regulations, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts are calculated
Audits and reviews online timekeeping system for completeness and accuracy, resolving any issues
Coordinates efforts between accounting, human resources and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee records and data with the highest level of confidentiality
Responds and resolves employee payroll issues in a timely manner
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies
Ensures payroll processes are in compliance with SOX 404 internal controls
Associates Degree or equivalent work experience required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Minimum of three years of payroll experience in Mid to Large sized company preferred
Experience with Ultimate Software preferred
Knowledge of automated payroll and timekeeping systems
Knowledge of wage and tax laws, and corresponding with federal, state and local tax agencies
Basic working knowledge of Human Resources guidelines
High level of attention to detail
Ability to make decisions independently
Strong verbal and written communications skills as it relates to conveying complex pay information to employees
Microsoft Office Knowledge
