Basic Job Functions:
The Pediatric Clinical Therapist Liaison role presents a unique opportunity for a clinician to advance their career by joining two dynamic organizations, Dominion Hospital and Children's Medical Associates. The Pediatric Clinical Therapist Liaison is responsible for providing behavioral health services to patients and families within a healthcare practice external to Dominion Hospital. This individual will join the HCA community, be a Dominion Hospital employee, and will fall under the Department of Social Work, but will be credentialed through, and provide assessment and psychotherapeutic services, within Children's Medical Associates. Clinical interventions will focus on psychiatric diagnostic assessment, and individual and family/co-joint psychotherapy. This role will also act as a liaison between Children's Medical Associates and Dominion Hospital, should any patients be admitted to the hospital or its outpatient programs, in an effort to ensure continuity of care. This individual will maintain a physical presence within the independent practice, will perform as an integral member of their clinical team, and will provide required documentation in their Electronic Health Record (EHR). In addition, the Pediatric Clinical Therapist Liaison will meet with the Director of Social Work for administrative supervision, be invited to attend monthly Department of Social Work department meetings, and able to attend CEU events hosted by the hospital, schedule permitting.
In this position, the role of the Pediatric Clinical Therapist Liaison position includes:
Thoroughly completing psychiatric diagnostic evaluations and assessments.
Collaborating with staff at the practice regarding patient care needs, treatment recommendations, and progress.
Completing assignments and documentation in the Electronic Health Record in a timely manner as per departmental and hospital standards.
Providing individual and/or family therapy sessions appropriate to patient needs.
Mobilizing resources and providing therapeutic intervention to defuse a crisis and restore safety if necessary, as well as minimize emotional trauma.
Attending and participating in team meetings and clinical meetings as necessary.
Collaborating with other practice staff around clinical and organizational issues.
Collaborating with referral sources, staff at Dominion Hospital, and external care providers as needed and ensures continuity of care amongst providers.
Displaying professionalism in all interactions with patients, their families, staff, and outpatient providers.
Participating administrative supervision as assigned by the Director of Social Work. * Following all hospital policies and procedures.
Following work schedule as assigned: Monday - Friday (daytime hours).
May perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Master's Degree from an accredited social work program, which provided appropriate background and experience. Education should be clinically focused with study in human life span development, psychopathology, trauma-informed care, and clinical treatment interventions based on diagnosis and evidenced-based practice.
CERTIFICATIONS: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), CPR-BLS for healthcare providers required.
LICENSE: Candidate to possess active Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
* At least the equivalent of 2 years of experience, focused in the area of outpatient care, inpatient and/or hospitalization, crisis prevention, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices (i.e. DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, etc.).
* At least 2 years of experience and/or 12 CEUs of training in evidence-based practices.
