JOB DESCRIPTION

Cedar Hills Hospital and Outpatient Services - located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland - is a 98-bed, free-standing psychiatric hospital and outpatient center specializing in mental health and substance use disorder treatment. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients. Our mission is to provide safe, effective, and compassionate mental health and substance use treatment.

The Pharmacist is responsible for the complete and efficient operation of the Pharmacy within all legal and accreditation/certification requirements and applicable facility policies, procedures, codes and standards. This includes managing administrative, pharmaceutical, and professional functions relating to pharmaceutical care provided at the facility.

- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.

- Dispenses medications by packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals.

-Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.

-Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.

-Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.

-Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and other health care professionals.

-Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.

-Protests patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.

-Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

-Maintains pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.

-Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.



Job Requirements

Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy is required.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years hospital pharmaceutical experience is recommended; must possess the experience to oversee the provision of medication regimens for the patient populations treated in the facility, including a knowledge of dosage for age-specific populations.

Licensure: Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in Oregon. Must have a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours. A working knowledge of JCAHO standards, OSHA regulations, and state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.

Training: Successful completion of Crisis Management and Service Excellence training within 90 days of employment.
