JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY Manages the BWH Pharmacy data including the active pursuit of accurate drug pricing and patient billing including the coordination of databases and information systems that support the financial infrastructure at BWH. Tracks medications pricing. Completes, distributes and tracks forms for vendors, support staff, providers and patients.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tracks medications and runs reports to identify all product dispensed within the Epic platform.
Completes, or coordinates, company specific medication pricing for Epic, McKesson, providers, patients and other parties to ensure program integrity.
Meets with manufacturer's representatives on a regular basis to discuss specific problems with billing, gain new program information, and submit requests for pharmaceutical replacement products.
Performs regularly scheduled pricing and inventory checks on all supplies obtained from distributors and directly from the manufacturer.
Reviews vendor invoices for accuracy.
Coordinates the return of outdated, damaged, and excess supplies to the appropriate vendor.
Locates and obtains necessary supplies during back order situations. Assists in compliance with manufacture product recalls.
Coordinates and maintains up to date contractual agreement files.
Standardize policies, operating procedures, and quality controls where appropriate.
Utilize software programs and explore and assist BWH in working with vendor and processing program applications.
Prepare and analyze reports, provide updates and recommendations to management.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. College degree highly desirable.
Strong background in pharmacy, computer software databases, Microsoft Office, medical terminology, and purchasing is required.
Formal education in other business courses would also be useful.
Upon department orientation and annually thereafter, must complete safety training
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
The ability to work independently is essential.
Must work accurately, be highly organized and detail oriented, and performs under time constraints.
The skill to redefine task priorities throughout the workday must be well developed.
Thorough knowledge of software applications, good computer skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office are essential. Must be able to gather, monitor, and document medication pricing data.
Must possess excellent verbal communicative skills in order to interact effectively with various Healthcare professionals and negotiate with vendors.
Facilitate, and practice, confidentiality of patient information.
Must be a customer focused individual.
