Summary: Lead and coordinate the production inventory control processes for the fabrication department(s) as well as support various related continuous improvement projects

Work to quality standards and specifications in accordance with established practices, processes, regulations, guidelines and standards in a safe and efficient manner

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned

Set up and/or Prepare machines, equipment and materials for production runs, and conduct test runs of machines to ensure their proper operation

Monitor proper operation of machinery and delegate workload or work assignments to a group

Verify accuracy of associated production records

Operate or tend equipment or machines involved in the blending processing/cutting of natural or synthetic fibers/material in compliance with established specifications

Start, stop, clean, and monitor machines and equipment for proper functioning

Monitor equipment and processes to ensure adherence to standards

Observe display screens, control panels, equipment, and fiber/material entering or exiting processes to determine if equipment is operating correctly; adjust equipment controls to maintain specified heat, pressure, tension, and/or speed

Measure time, methods, and recommend more efficient processes

Develop and assist in process improvements for inventory, manufacturing, layout and production control systems to meet business objectives

Plan inventory management techniques to avoid any shortages and excesses

Plan and monitor material movement in production cycles to ensure continuous operations

Perform regular cycle counts, investigate/analyze problems/root causes, make corrections/derive solutions, and assist in training to prevent in future

Operate and perform at advanced levels of operations for all equipment in the Fabrication Department

Assist and support Daily Team Maintenance Program and 5 S, through performing audits and helping further develop the programs

Confer with leads and/or managers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments

Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers

Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions

Follow specifications for the processing of material

Examine and feel products to identify defects and/or variations from processing standards

Accurately maintain and record production information, communicate with lead or managers, and/or relevant personnel on the condition of the operation/production and any unusual circumstances or issues

Notify supervisors or maintenance personnel of equipment malfunctions

Effectively clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions

Train more junior or new associates in appropriate safety procedures, work instructions and quality standards

Actively contribute to continuous process improvement

Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities; meet training and/or certification requirements of the job, department, product or area as designated/defined in work instructions and quality standards

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations

Education/Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of five (5) years of experience working directly in the industry; or any combination of education and experience

Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, area, circumference, and volume

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills: This position requires proficiency in one or more of the following technologies to be successful:Industrial Control software, Enterprise Resource Planning Software, Word Processing software, Spreadsheet Software, and Electronic Mail software

Certificates and Licenses: May be required to hold certification for the operation of industrial trucksOther Qualifications:This position may require specific knowledge in one or more of the following areas to be successful:Basic computers and electronics
