JOB DESCRIPTIONThis position is responsible for registering patients (inpatient, outpatient, emergency department patients & pre-registered patients) by obtaining individual identifying data, such as demographic and financial data for the patient's permanent medical record and episode-specific financial statement. The registrar should be able to admit or register patients in an accurate and timely manner. Registrar is also responsible for ensuring that proper authorization for treatment/admission has been obtained prior to services being rendered.
This is a part time position - 32 hrs/biweekly in the Torresdale Outpatient Dept
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Medical terminology preferred. Efficient & effective computer skills, effective oral and written communication skills.
Experience: Previous experience in a clerical position in a health-care institution or physician office is required. Experience with health insurance, follow up billing and medical terminology is required. Must have computer proficiency, including basic components of windows, word processing and software navigation. Types data enters at a rate of 40 words per minute or higher with no mistakes. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
