JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY The Cobbold laboratory within the Center for Cancer Immunology at the MGH Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated and well-organized individual for a full-time Research Technician II position.
Dr. Cobbolds laboratory focuses on tumor antigens and antibody-based targeting of cancer by mobilizing the immune response. The candidate will optimize, develop and execute protein expression and purification to support the biotherapeutics group. Attractive candidates will have a demonstrated track record of high quality and timely data generation, excellent communication skills, and should be comfortable working at the bench in a fast-paced and multitasked interdisciplinary team-oriented environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Implement and optimize a broad range of protein expression platforms, purification techniques and characterization methods to support preclinical development.
Undertake molecular biology cloning of TCRs, small scale expression and purification, liquid handling automation and AKTA chromatography system.
Design, perform and troubleshoot experiments with guidance from the laboratory director. This includes collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results, maintenance of databases used in the lab, ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments, and participation in joint upkeep of the lab.
Prepare written reports on status of research, determination of technical procedures, sequence of operations, including statistical and graphic summaries of findings and possible conclusions. Collaborates with laboratory director in writing and editing material for publication.
Demonstrated independence in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation
Ability to work in a high paced team environment, meet deadlines, & prioritize work on multiple projects
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated independent decision making
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet based applications is required.
Ability to handle human blood and blood products, perform sterile tissue culture in accordance
with established standard operating procedures (SOP), and guidelines.
Some experience in flow cytometry and ELISA is desired.
B.S. in molecular biology or related field.
