The School of Medicine (SOM) Dean s Office School of Medicine Employee Engagement Program and Event Specialist is responsible for planning and executing high-profile School of Medicine events, projects and programs that reflect the Dean s priorities, shape strategic objectives, further the school s mission, and strengthen relationships and engagement.
The Program Specialist will:
Manage high-profile, high-impact events, including developing event plan, overseeing financial matters, establishing vendor contracts, and coordinating all logistical requirements
Lead coordination for various award cycles, including scheduling selection committee meetings, assembling electronic submissions of award nominations, and preparing communications
Coordinate the SOM s Staff Leadership Development Program, including collaborating on content and logistics, as well as managing program participants experience
Develop and maintain partnerships with senior management, faculty, volunteers, and staff to accomplish goals on time
Measure effectiveness of events and programs and propose and implement enhancements as needed.
Working for Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Director of Administrative Services, the person hired into this role is expected to:
Use skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures
Research, analyze, and develop solutions to a wide range of issues
Demonstrate impeccable judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Propose and develop new procedures for possible implementation
Initiate and drive projects through to completion.
The Program Specialist primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope.

Required Qualifications: Bacheloru0027s degree in related area and five or more years of equivalent experience / training in the fields of healthcare, business, sciences and technology, etc., or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Highly proficient in use of standard administrative tools such as Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, use of the internet, and other computer application programs. Ability to use computers and computer software appropriate to work tasks
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses
Strong policy analysis techniques
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate effectively with tact and political acumen, and effectively represent the campus to its public. Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively support team priorities
Demonstrated ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
Strong analytical / problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
Strong organizational skills to effectively coordinate and track multiple details
Great attention to detail; demonstrated commitment to highest quality work product
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of, and proficiency with, UC specific administrative tools such as MyExpense, BearBuy, Box, etc.
Knowledge of concepts and principles of effective event planning and production and public relations
Basic knowledge of the campus, its mission, vision, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure
