SAIC will be working with AMCOM to develop predictive anddescriptive models and dashboards to support decisions in supply chainmanagement, such as demand forecasting and inventory planning. The goal is toleverage AMCOM s data to derive insights that can improve their efficiency insupplying parts to their customers. The project will start with a focus on thesupply chain for Apache Helicopter parts, formulating and proving themethodology to later expand to other systems.
The core components to be developed for the project include:predictive models, dashboards for visualizing results and other data analysis,and back-end software and hosting to support the data pipeline.
The Senior Logistics Engineer will help the data scienceteam understand the various logistics and supply chain indicators andlinguistics. He or she will coordinate and provide feedback on how thealgorithms are developed and the data that is required to make decisions inlogistics and supply chain programs.TheSenior Logistics Engineer will be a major player in driving the success of thisprogram, which will have great strategic impact for SAIC. He or she will havesubstantial interaction with the customer, SAIC Project Manager, and DataScience team. He or she will work with AMCOM to determine how best to approachtheir problems with data science and AI, and consistently communicatingtechnical progress and results. He/She will co-lead the technical effort withthe SAIC team, evaluating predictive models and analysis and collaborating withdata scientists to create visualizations and reports that will allow forimprovement of the logistics and supply chain processes. Will provide subjectmatter expert (SME) support to the development of dashboards and algorithmswith the focus on logistics business analytics. Will support the training andtransition to sustainment operations.
Leads the team throughout development of thetechnical solution, from planning to execution, focusing on how best to improvevisualizations and reports for logistics item managers.
Consults and collaborates with the customer to ensurethat analysis and models address the right questions, shaping the technicalvision to satisfy customer needs.
Evaluates and provides predictive models withsupply chain data (Ex: demand forecasting, inventory planning).
Explores and assesses datasets and determines whattypes of data will be most impactful for the customer s mission, andcollaborates with other data scientists to develop them.
Works with the data scientists/analysts todevelop visualizations, dashboards, and analytic reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS * Master s Degree plus 10 years experience. A BSdegree can be substituted with 2 years additional experience, and an AA/AS orHS diploma can be substituted with 6 years additional experience.
* Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
* Ability to lead development and implementationof data science solutions related to logistics and supply chain from start tofinish, through planning and execution.
* Extensive experience developing data sciencealgorithms and advanced models, including supervised and unsupervised machinelearning, time series forecasting, and statistical analysis.
* Ability to communicate effectively with bothcustomers and internal team members, including people with varying levels ofdata science and logistics and supply chain knowledge.
* Experience with the Army s LogisticsModernization Program (LMP) ERP system is a plus
* Skills and expertise encompass maintenance,supply, transportation, and logistics planning and forecasting.
