Berkeley Lab s Workforce Development & Education (WD&E) team has two (2) openings for Student Assistants to assist with supporting the department on a part-time basis during the school year, transitioning to full-time work during the summer.



Job duties include (but are not limited to) booking and assisting with tours of scientific facilities, photo shoots, and other events for STEM majors and post-baccalaureates, administrative support, event planning, spreadsheet management, maintaining photo archives, and recording logistical information, literature searches, data analysis, data visualization, file management, preparing printed/electronic media, and other duties, as needed.



Strong applicants will have:

*

Strong written communication skills.
*

Proficient in communication via social media platforms.
*

Proficiency in office software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Google applications).
*

Experience with data analysis and visualization (e.g., charts, graphs, tables, infographics).
*

Strong demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy.
*

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
*

Willingness to work in a flexible, changing environment.

Preferred (but not required):

*

Demonstrated interest and/or experience with science and/or STEM education.
*

Successful completion of some coursework in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
*

Desire to learn about science education-based research methods.
*

Experience with project management software platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, MS Project, Salesforce).
*

Interest in working directly with students at the post-secondary level (and above).
*

Experience reading published literature.

Requirements: Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree at a college or university, are eligible to apply for this opportunity.

This is a part-time 1-year, student assistant appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.

Salary will be predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.
